I finally broke down and made a trip to MAC to purchase my favorite over-priced lipstick! MAC Russian Red is my FAVORITE classic red lipstick. It's a matte finish so if you like super glossy lipstick try pairing it with a nude or clear gloss to give it some extra shine. I wear it daily so I like to keep it matte but, do whatever tickles your fancy. Either way, DO IT!



Also, I had a plate of killer nachos for lunch courtesy of my rockin' roommate! She brought home the lovely grub from http://www.bar-reservoir.com/, our other girlfriend had the chicken and waffles and said they were awesome! Resevoir is located in the up and coming West 7th area of Ft. Worth. The crowd is young and beautiful and the food is super rad. People needs to know this place is out there! Spread the word! #exclamationpoint

Can we talk about this for just a moment...

Just in time for my birthday MONTH, the best month out of the year, my fave magazine is featuring my favorite pop muse on the cover of their October issue!!! Thank you Elle magazine, you never disappoint! Happy Birthday to me indeed!!!!

                      

Reinvent yourself...

                                                                            
  When I came to know THE material girl she was a buxom platinum blonde in a hot pink, floor-length, satin column gown adorned with an enormous bow. Dripping with diamonds and commanding the attention of every man in the room. WOW! What a statement! Thus began my obsession with pop culture and its cast of colorful characters...
                                                                             
 
   We have watched many of these characters evolve right before our eyes. Some handled their reinvention better than others and some not so much, (Mr. Sheen we're looking at you). And in my not-so-humble opinion, nobody has done reinvention better than Madonna the Queen of Pop, (although I tip my hat to Robert Downey Jr. for an incredible comeback. Bravo, Sir!). She's given us burning crosses, the infamous cone bra, and Kabbalah bracelets. We've had the pleasure of meeting Madonna Louise Ciccone, Ester, Evita, and Madge. Love her or hate her, her name has been in our mouths for over THREE decades. She has to be doing SOMETHING right! So, in the spirit of successful reinvention and with a nod to the material girl, I'm reinventing myself and this blog. You may or may not like it, hear me now, I don't care. I am going to write about the things I feel are interesting, fun, popular, stylish, delicious, and worth talking about! Sometimes it may be insightful, sometimes not. When it isn't I'm not going to feel bad about it!

   Look, I understand completely that writing/blogging/vlogging/etc. about pop culture, fashion, and what I like to eat isn't important in the scope of the universe. This blog won't earn me a Pulitzer Prize or an Oscar. I'm not going to change the world by talking about Louboutins and bacon but...I'm going to be doing something that I LOVE TO DO, and I will subsequently have fun while doing so! In a world weighed down by such heavy topics of conversation, a failing economy, and a seemingly never ending war wouldn't it be refreshing to simply talk about something fun and light-hearted every once in a while?! I mean, for Pete's sake let's just talk unabashedly about something totally mindless!!! I'm setting out for this to be fun and positive and happy...I think that's something even the Queen of Pop herself could get behind.

NOW...with that said...

Life as I (now) know it

Hello again blogosphere! It's been a while, just about a year or so to be exact. A LOT has happened in my year long absence. Let's give a little run down...deep breath...

  Left a job, got a new job, dog died, lost job, sister got engaged, acquired another new job, travled to Paris France and Rome Italy on a long overdue amazing vacation, celebrated the last birthday of my twenties, saw the Sistine Chapel, Mona Lisa, the Eiffel Tower, and Normandy Beach with my own two eyes,came home to my same amazing job, rang in 2012 with amazing people in the most amazing way, celebrated my parent's 30th wedding anniversary, went to a few weddings, moved, saw a lot of movies, bought lots of new books, met lots of new cool people, ate a lot of food, had a lot of heart-to-hearts, started a boot camp, had my tonsils removed, recovered for a week and a half, and made my return to work...today. WHEW! Well, now that we're all up to speed we can talk life as it is now, in the moment!
  I know it sounds a little silly but the last year has really given me some great perspective. I have learned to really let go of the things I have no direct control over and to hold tight to my sense of self. I make no apologies for who I am and what is important to me. If you ask my opinion be prepared for MY truth, it may not be what you WANT to hear but, it's what I have to say. I have loyalties to NOBODY but myself. I have a close group of friends that I absolutely cherish. They are GOLD to me. I can't get enough of everything I'm learning and living!
  I cannot get enough of my job, my developing career, learning how to play the game of "office politics", food, fashion, fitness, men, dating, QT with friends and family, garbage TV, music, dancing, Skinny Girl Cocktails and all things Bethenny Frankel, "patio time", reading books, my new perspective, #hashtagging, blogging, traveling, having fun, and just learning how truly FABULOUS I really am!!! I have so much more to learn and live. This is the year of the big 3-0 and I'm ready to tackle it head on!!! BRING IT!!! Buckle up friends...here we go!
